Applying Educational Neuroscience in the Classroom
As a classroom teacher, I found research helped with many of the issues in my classroom. When I discovered Eric Jensen and his workshops on the brain and learning, I found what I was looking for...strategies based on neuroscience that would help me help my students to learn. What a blessing it was to finally know that every aspect of the classroom, when appropriately presented, would lead to success for "my kids!"
After years of applying brain research in my classrooms and finding eager and engaged students in front of me each day, I had to share this information with others. While still in the classroom, I spent summers, weekends, and school holidays training teachers, administrators, and parents about how the brain learns...and how vital establishing relationships with students is.
As a member of the American Academy of Neurology, I keep myself updated on the latest research. I have learned as much from my students as from my research. I am grateful for the help of the many educators with whom I have had the privilege to work.
